Headcanon that Seven of Nine and Naomi actually find Neelix’s cooking to be fine because it’s the only food they’ve ever eaten/their first introduction to food and when they get to Earth everyone’s so excited to show them Alpha quadrant foods but neither of them likes anything they’re offered very much. Seven doesn’t really care either way except that she has to get used to a whole new palette and Naomi likes the obvious (Ex: candy, cake) but frequently complains that nothing tastes ‘right’. Naomi: -pushing away a slice of pizza- I don’t like it... Tom: You’re kidding me. You don’t like pizza? Naomi: It doesn’t taste right! Make it how Neelix used to. Tom: You want me to put gerhalorian beets and yuk mushrooms in the sauce so it congeals into a lumpy, slightly sour mess? Is that what you want, Naomi? Naomi: Yeah :( I want Naomi and Icheb to work tirelessly together on a side project for years until finally doing it - being able to communicate clearly with those in the Delta quadrant! Icheb uses it to speak to the other borg children (now adults) and Naomi immediately uses it to call Neelix and ask him to find the nearest time portal and toss a big box of leola root into it. She’s been craving it for years! No one told her the Alpha quadrant didn’t have leola root, she wouldn’t have gone otherwise!

#Naomi's suffering through the worst case of 'food you had ALL the time as a kid but can't get as an adult'#Her next goal is constructing some way for ships to pass through the quadrants quickly and safely so Neelix can come visit her and also #Voyager's crew can stop getting themselves hopelessly lost and presumed dead out there #Naomi's favorite joke is that if she knew the alpha quadrant had/didn't have X she wouldn't have come! Her mom doesn't love it v_v #st voyager #Naomi Wildman #Seven of Nine #Neelix #I also think every member of the crew has a certain food they really loved but can never eat again v_v either bc alpha quad doesn't have the #ingredients or the replication abilities or bc it was something that was given as a gift by a delta quad alien or Neelix was only able to #make it once etc #I believe Neelix's cooking is a mixed bag. Some of his dishes are earnestly not good and some of them are for a palette that #the crew doesn't have...but after seven years you develop a palette. Like they still PREFER alpha quadrant food but every so often they're #like DAMN...do you remember when Neelix made-? and it's always a happy conversation #OH and also he has limited ingredients bc of Voyager's situation and doesn't know what the human foods they ask for are or what they should #taste like so it's trial and error babey!!!

#like 75% of the time anyway. and that's only assuming they accepted the offering of food in the first place #a lot of the time (unless they're desperate) they reject food offers except from those who have gained a certain amount of trust #bc it feels too vulnerable to accept it. better to pretend they're fine.#anyway of you cook the food specifically for them you bump the chances of tears to 90%#if*#they will try so hard to stop it though. and then try even harder to hide it.#you'll probably see them with their head lowered too close to the plate so their bangs cover their eyes and their face isn't really in view #they don't get homemade often okay?? and the number of times it happens lowers further each year #...at least until they meet lena and sol who start cooking for them fairly regularly #but u get me with this. homecooked food hits fucking DIFFERENT when you've never gotten it consistently.#they've come to tie food like that to the concept of family. which is obviously not something they've had consistently #(and even then some families wouldn't cook much. others barely provided them with food.)#just!!!! byan has some issues when it comes to food!!!#and I have a lot of thoughts about it but I'm a lil too high to elaborate all that coherently lmao #━━ ˟ ⊰ ✰ headcanon ⋮ danger in the fabric of this thing i made.

Literally can't pay my rent until I get paid for September, which hasn't happened yet. Today is Friday, and Monday is the last day of the month. I'm so tired of being poor.

#i still cringe to call myself 'poor' bc i have my own apartment and can afford groceries #and even fun stuff like museums and cafe visits and public transport sometimes #but the reality of the matter is that after i pay off my student loans every month #i do not have enough money left to pay the following month's rent #and that's the way it's been my whole life #all my groceries and museum visits and coffee come from those few hundred euros left over #my whole life i've been choosing between 'having savings' and 'having even the smallest most humble life' and obviously i choose the latter #i never go to the movies #i buy all my clothes second hand (got some this past month after not having bought any new clothing in almost two years)#i have visited a museum TWICE this year #i go to restaurants like... once a month max #i am living the most frugal life that i possibly can without denying myself all pleasures #i don't even have netflix or anything like that! i only very rarely order delivery! i cook my own damn meals!#you get the picture #and yet still: one single missed paycheck is enough to potentially fuck up my life seriously #i've never missed a rent payment in my life but i'm scared it may happen this time #just wrote to HR of my former employer (who is supposed to still be paying me through october) to politely ask where my paycheck is #it's probably coming today (i sure as hell hope so) but if it doesn't... i legit don't know how i'm going to pay my rent #my rent is 673 euros and i only have 400 in my bank account #i probably have enough food in my pantry to survive for a month if i had to #but i've never missed rent in germany before (or ever) and i have no idea how long they'd wait before evicting me for non-payment #i'm scared. and i'm tired of being apparently the only fucking person in my social groups who is this poor #i am an over-educated 37-year-old professional who typically gets classed with the 'expats'#but one missed salary payment has me thinking about eviction and affording groceries #this is what i mean when i say i'm an immigrant. not an expat.#those people with their apple watches and co-working spaces and spontaneous trips to thailand or brazil are... a world apart from me #how come everyone i meet is so damn rich? where do i find fellow poor friends?#anyway i'm stressed. and i'm so so tired of spending my mental energy worrying about money #cosmo gyres #personal

But I do love dressing up as some fantasy character so much.. The only thing that could ever bring a true hermit wizard #to engage with others socially is the prospect of connecting it somehow to fantasy worlds and costumes lol. One must simply dress up #as a silly 200 year old man from time to time and pretend you've never seen a balloon before in your life. etc.#6. bapy boye... feets #7. The main food that I made for the elderly elf man 'party'. which was a Deconstructed Beef Wellington (kind of as ajoke since I watch s #o many silly cooking competition shows and they always make stuff 'deconstructed' at the last minute when under time limits or whatever.)#I've wanted to make beef wellington a few times but Ithink to do it well I'd need like..an actual kitchen and a lot of time and #an oven that fully works to bake things and etc. etc. So I thought this would be an easier method. A thick steak cut round to kind of mimi #c the round tenderloin or whatever it is in a wellington. instead of the puff pastry being wrapped around - I just did star shaped cut outs #of pastry and baked them and put them on top (to go with the star theme). instead of mushroom duxelles being wrapped around in pastry #its in a little circle under the steak. and instead of mustard being brushed onto the meat I made a mustard gravy sauce type of thing #Then of course asparagus on the side.. my favorite... Though I know some wellington #also has a layer of prosciutto I think. or I saw one person use crepes. I didn't feel it was necessary to incorporate that too lol #8. bapy son helping me do a giant puzzle that took me hours and I had no idea it was actually that large of a puzzle #until I started putting it together and for some reason it made me stressed by the end instead of relaxed lol.. puzzle fatigue #photo diary

#quite pleased given i didn’t actually use the measurements in the recipe cos I didn’t have enough cream cheese #(‘‘twas on a budget and budget did not allow for more than 5 packs of cream cheese from trip to Tesco number 2)#so i had to work almost everything out by ratios #I BECAME THE PERSON IN THE MATHS PROBLEMS #I AM THE PROBLEM #also I don’t know where the food processor went or how to use it so I used some blackcurrant jam my mum made a while ago #and used that instead of ✨strawberry purée ✨#so yah #deception #also I have too much leftover berries help I’m scared they’re gonna go off #cheesecake #cooking

funniest thing that ever happened when we were playing botw was my sister was playing and she had made it up to the top of the tower in hyrule field (the one surrounded by guardians) and was looking down at the guardians through a slot in the like railing and i was like "you should shoot the guardian" because i thought they were out of range and so she shot the guardian in the eye with an arrow and it came alive and immediately hit link with a laser and link instantly died ragdolled and fell through the slot and miphas grace activated and my sister immediately teleported away while mipha was still doing her thing. and i was just laughing so hard.

#its just the image of link limply falling to the ground miphas ghost around him then turning into tendrils of blue light. i wish i had #filmed it. but there was no way i couldve predicted it would happen i was living in the moment #after i finish minish cap i will finish botw it has been over a year...im sorry daruk i left you hanging (when we stopped i had just entere #vah rudania)#though i might do naboris first bc . i dont want to fight thunderblight last when it has even more hp thats scary.#(weve already done vah ruta and vah medoh)#its kind funny in totk i got like all of the towers right away (although the one on mt lanayru was a struggle bc #i did not have enough cold protective stuff but i was just scaling the mountain out of pure spite)#one of the gerudo desert ones i also didnt have any heat protection so i was just trying to do the thing while link was just taking damage #anyways but in totk i got all the towers i think b4 we did any main quest stuff but then in botw #there were some towers that i just. i tried but i didnt get until i had revalis gale lol. shout out revalis gale.#anyways speaking of funny things in botw totk the other day i was playing totk and i was #i put link in a christmas outfit (dyed the rito shirt and pants and the cap of the wild red)#and made a sled to attach to my horse so link could be santa. and i was trying to make it to rito village #but the bridge on the map was smaller in real life than it looked on the map and the horse refused to walk on it but i kept trying to force #him to inch forward to try and make it across. and then my horse CLIPPED THROUGH the bridge and started FREE FALLING #and in a panic i teleported straight back to the stable and took out another horse as fast as i could. the horse was fine but i did #go to malanya and cook him some food to upgrade my horse immediately afterwards lol #botw lowkey traumatized me bc when i was playing twilight princess i did not use epona as much as i could because i was afraid of bringing #her into danger. and even though i logically knew that she cannot die in twilight princess the years of playing botw still had alarm bells #ringing. but like why do the horses have to die in botw totk...come on...#they dont even disappear the corpse just stays there to let you stew in your guilt!! like the livestock on farms and in stables #cant get hurt! so why can your horses :(
